Super Boxer
Last night I came home at my normal time and went about the usual routine of putting my purse and keys down, checking the mail, etc, etc, etc, then I go to let the dogs out and see only one in his crate and the other crate door is wiiiide open. Um, okay. We have TWO dogs, where is the other one??? I'm kinda curious, but concerned, at this point because our baby girl is missing. So I start to go through the apartment to see if she's in any of her usual places: the couch, her bed, under the computer chair. Nothing. Okay. Now I'm getting worried. I mean, our apartment is a pretty good sized one but it's no 20 room estate! So I go to the kitchen because she SOMETIMES likes to lay on the dirty clothes pile in the laundry room and it's just off of the kitchen. And it's there that I'm met with an open refrigerator door, leftover containers strewn all over the floor, along with an empty yogurt container, broken eggshells but no egg, and an empty can of wet dog food (we only feed her half of the can mixed in with the kibble). I've heard of cat burglars, but a DOG burglar????
I'm laughing at this point but still can't find Abbi and Hayden is going nuts in his crate because he knows that me being home = him being out. So I go back to the bedroom to let him know that it's okay and that I'm going to let him out as soon as I find his sister (because he understands me, right??). After me looking EVERYWHERE for her, it's at this point that Abbi decides to pop her little head out from under the blankets on our bed and when I pulled them back, I saw that she'd tucked herself into a little tight ball and had her head laying on the pillow. Silly girl!! She'd pigged out on yogurt and dog food and with a full belly, put herself to bed!
I SO wish that I had taken a picture of the mess in the kitchen and then her looking up at me with her big, brown eyes, asking me why I look so worried and why I woke her up.
We still don't know how she was able to get out but because we have a metal, wire crate, we think that she just hit the door until the latches came free. They really are smarter than we think!! And so now we have to figure out what to do to make sure she stays in her crate...
