Boxer Pal
Ok, I know it takes a while to cook, but it is soo worth it. I have been making this for my husband for years and he still can't get enough.
1 whole head of cabbage (sliced)
1 half of green bell pepper diced
1 half of red bell pepper diced
1 half of yellow pepper diced
1 whole onion diced
1 half lb of sliced bacon
1 and a half links of sliced kielbasa or andouille sausage
2 14.5 ounce cans of chicken broth
1 can of water
In electric skillet, sautee bacon, sausage, onion, and bellpeppers until they are tender and sausage and bacon are browned, making sure bacon is not cooked till crispy. My mom refers to this as wobbley bacon. Then add your cabbage and mix together.Pour on both cans of broth and cover.Let simmer on 350 for about 30 minutes or so. Reduce heat to lowest temperature, add water, stir and slow simmer for another 40 minutes. Make sure to stir it every so often as the liquids do reduce. When finished there should be a little liquid left. Should make enough for 4-6 people( depending on how much you and everyone else eats. I like this with breaded fried pork chops and a pasta dish.) Enjoy!!!
