Sophie not well, possible inner ear infection

Our Sophie is not doing so well just now. Started Sunday morning when she seemed to be drunk - unable to walk in a straight line, disorientated, heavy breathing, restless and generally not herself. Our vet feels it may be nothing more sinister than an inner ear infection (we were worried it was a stroke), she got a dose of antibiotics and on Monday had stopped walking round in circles, was able to walk in more of a straight line and was starting to do her usual routine. Today she is pretty much the same, not totally steady on her feet, is still heavy breathing through her nose, sleeping a lot, and drinking lots of water given the chance (we're waiting to see if this is a side effect of her antibiotic/steroid injection). We're just playing the waiting game just now.

It would be good to get some feedback from anyone whose boxer has had an inner ear infection as we've not experienced this before.

Also I came across a condition called Canine Vestibular Disease with symptoms which seem to be similar to those Sophie has - has anyone any experience of this?

So healing vibes required for our old girl please! We got such a fright on Sunday I really thought we were going to loose her.

I am very sorry to hear that your Sophie is not feeling very well...poor baby :( I have no experience with either case but wanted to send strong (((healing vibes)))) for Sophie and pray that she has a quick and full recovery.

I haven't had any experience with a boxer having inner ear problems, but I know when I had an inner ear infection I was miserable. Dizzy, contantly nauseous and vomitting. Even once I started the antibiotics and the other med for the dizziness I was still sick for a while. I hope Sophie starts feeling better soon.
