Tomorow my almost 19 yr old son is moving out.
I am happy for him and sad too. He is so excited and pinging off the ceiling. He needs to stand on his own two feet to enable him to become more responsible BUT I shall miss him terribly. The good thing is he's only moving a 5 minute walk away and the house is on one of my dog wakling routes

This morning me and my SIL helped him to pack all his stuff and take the smaller things over to his new house and his bedroom looks so bare now :(
Minty (my daughter) is planning what we can do with his room, cheeky little mare  I'll decorate it for him for when he comes back home

Tracey, I KNOW that feeling so well....I've only got one of my three boys at home now (I'm already planning on what to do with is room when he goes too ;) )....It's good that he is so near, you'll be able to keep an eye on him, and it's gonna be SO convenient for him to pop in for some home made grub, and bring bundles of dirty washing for you to see to, coz mum always makes a much better job of the ironing

Seriously though, I KNOW you have a lump in your throat, and tomorrow, you will find that even though you promised yourself you wouldn't cry, somehow, a few tears will force their way into your eyeballs, and threaten to escape down your cheeks, as you wave your baby boy (they'll always be our babies!!) off into his first step into the 'grown up' world...SO..have your hanky ready, give him a big kiss, and always know, that the special bond we mothers have with our kids will never be broken, whether they move five minutes down the road, hundreds of miles away or even venture off to other continents...You are, and always will be his rock, the love you share is his anchor, and your home his safe harbour....Good luck, and be brave!!

God Marion I must be all over the place you're post brought tears to my eyes. I was roaring earlier too, he found a poem I wrote him when he was 4 yrs old and read it out and by the end me, Josh & my SIL were in tears. He also found a letter I wrote to him years ago telling him how much mummy loved him (think he was 6 at the time) He's kept them all these years.

Can't make it into the dogs room, they'd terrorise the kittens up there

Tracey,

I totally understand the way you are feeling. My son moved out recently too. However, he has moved over 1500 miles away to live with his birth father for a while before he joins the military. My heart breaks daily with not being able to see him, kiss and hug him when I want.
You are blessed that your son will be so close, and it is an important step to "growing up" (that thing that all us parents dread so much).
P.S. we are making his room into a workout room. :)

Well Tracey- At least he's close! My kids are 11 and 13 and I already get sad when I think of them not being here...

Very Touching!!!! I remember when I moved out of my parents house, was 21 and just got married. Very very close with my mom....and I was worrying about her when I left. You are blessed with having your son live only minutes from your home. I'm sure he will be visiting you (your the fur babies) often....nothing like a home cooked meal :)

I must phone my mum tonight.

I was 17 when I headed for the big lights of London, went back for a few years and then I was off again.
My two brothers still live at home, 1 is 29 & the baby is 20. I keep asking my mum is she sure they are not of italian desent.

My two are 15 & 9, my daughter says she can´t wait to move out !!!!! but girls are like that.

Chin up Tracey, he is just down the road and it gives you an excuse to keep an eye on him.

Tracey, I hope you and your son are ok, being a mum doesn't get any easier. My eldest is nearly 20 and has broken up with his girl friend of 3 years, it was heartbreaking to see him in so much pain. I am glad your son will still be close to you :)

I know I am so lucky it's not far.
I walked past his house twice today, once with Zeb then again with Lola  Minty's taking Casper so I won't make it a third time ;)

He had the day off work to go shopping for things, he bought a duvet & pillows, couple of duvet covers and some girlie stuff  Apparently his friend (girl) went with him and convinced him this ting ting in a vase would make his room look trendy, oh and this very expensive throw.
He's also done his food shopping and showed me the receipt, he surprised me by buying really sensible things.

I just might walk Casper myself ;).....................
