I searched through the forums and found a couple threads on this topic and everyone says the dog is still a pup and it will go away....Im concerned with Ace because he has a slight rise in his back end and i noticed the same in his father when we saw him. Does this mean it will not go away? is there anything we can feed him or do with him that will help?

Not finding it that easy to picture exactly what you mean - but if you could post a picture to illustrate, that would help ;)

Regardless, if his father had the same "hump", then very likely it's inherited and hence permanent. Structure is something passed down the generations. Breeding is far from an exact science, but the very reason that one should breed only from animals without any significant deviations from standard is so that their offspring won't have the same faults. And offspring are as likely to inherit their parents bad points as they are their good points.

I think I know exactly what you are talking about. Cooper has a horrible top line, I had him evaluated by a friend who shows professionally. Basically in Cooper's case his front and rear legs are about the same height. Therefore instead of him being taller at the shoulders and him having a sloping top line it almost looks like he is tucking his rear under a bit. If he is stacked out it goes away some but it is still noticeable. It is the result of poor breeding in his case.

i can't seem to find a picture that shows exactly what I mean, but we took him to the vet and he said that it is only noticable in some positions but we are getting x-rays done tomorrow morning to rule out any scholiosis promblems. Im just praying it is nothing serious.

He's Normal!!! lol

got the word today and the doctor said that he is perfectly healthy!!!! they said that with regular excercise the hump should straighten out as he grows. the vet also asked us if we are currently giving him pet tabs? i guess they are a multivitamin for dogs. has anyone heard of these and are they any good??

Our JellyBean's(at the bridge) back was like that. She didn't have it present until about 4 months(I think) and sometimes she would look straight, but you mostly noticed it. I actually think in her case it was bad breeding, but hope your baby's back straightens out.
