I was wondering at what age our babies faces start turning silver?
I am sure it varies a little but I was just curious at what age Lana will start getting her first "grey" hairs :)

I believe we first started noticing Roxy's grey hairs when she was about 6. She is now almost 8 (in April) and, you can see by her pictures, very grey on her face.

Just like us, they age very differently. Funny though, when I remember Rascal angelicon he's always very dark masked. But I look back at his pics and realize that he too was greying by about 6 and was a very silver baby by the time he passed. Aren't our memories selective? lovicon

It actually varies a lot. Some start to grey as early as about 3 years, others not until 6+ (a few not until about 8 or so). Since there seem to be plenty in each general age range, I'm not sure if you'd even find a useful average.

For general polling purposes, Henri started to grey a little around 4.5 years.

My last boxer Muffin (crossed the bridge in Feb) was 8 and she barely had any gray. It depends on the dog. She had a few gray speckles, but certainly no "silver mask."

I think it depends on the lines too. My boy went gray around five, and his Mom as well. I am very happy to have a gray face if it means they will stay with me for as long as possible :)

Izzy is already starting to get white hairs in her black mask at 2.5 years old. They don't look grey though, or maybe I am in denial! She still looks like a puppy to me! She still has the skinny puppy body. You can't really tell from her pictures. I thought she was very young. My sisters chocolate lab started getting grey around her mouth (we call it her grandma beard) at 2, and my Mom's chocolate cocker spaniel started getting grey on his chin around 2 or 3 years old. My sisters other chocolate lab is almost 5 and has really no grey. I guess it all depends. I didn't want my Izzy to get the silver face so soon, but she has been thru a lot. Maybe that has something to do with it too!!!! She had a horrible first 10 weeks of life, has had 2 knee surgeries, and multiple growths removed from her body. She had what I called "itchy bumps" all over her body until she was a little over a year old. The vet never figured out what they were, but as long as I wash her with her special shampoo , she is fine. Luckily none of them were cancerous. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. She is getting the hairs right under her nose, right in the front on her black mask. I don't care if she turns all grey, as long as she lives a very, very long happy and healthy life.

Cyrus is already going gray at 2 years old! We have noticed more and more white hair on his jowls lately, where he has never had white hair before. I just tell him he is going "flashy" instead of gray!

At 18 months, Scooter's black mask is scattered with gray.

Apollo started getting gray hairs around his mouth at about the same time. Rocky is 7 months and he has some gray hairs on one side of his mouth. Maybe that is normal for a boxer? You can bet that they don't have cause for gray hairs, that's all left to me.;)
