I live in an apartment and I cannot figure out when my puppy wants to go outside. I take it outside every two hours or so, even during the night. What are some signs that she may have to go to the bathroom? PLEASE HELP!!!!

My 3 will put their nose to the ground and sniff, circling, pacing back and forth...but after saying that, Luka used to just tilt his back legs down so that I'd hardly notice and just pee! How old is your puppy? I used to take mine out every 2 hours at night untill about 12 weeks :)

With pups I tend to watch the butt area for muscle twitches....

I can't figure Riley out either. She is so fast. I have taken her out ever 20mins and still doesn't work. I am on a mission to get this down with her. Now Max was a cinch. He would circle, sniff and everytime he went out he would go.

With all the pups I've had I can always spot the "I gotta poo" signs..the BIGGEST sign is always the butt pouching outward..as if poo is coming out :)

Peeing signs for my newest two are
    1) Echo puts her nose down and keeps it down while randomly walking around..not so much in circles..as if she's a hound dog that caught a scent.

    2) Walking to the area where the door that leads out is.

    3) on occasion a low growl type sound

    4) suddenly stopping the frantic play and look around and walk away.

Rudy will walk back and forth between the door out and me, she started doing this at probably 12 weeks or so.

Stella never made signs/signals - the occasional sniffing, but nothing consistent. I ended up taking her out every hour (and we're on the upper level of our duplex, so I know the feeling). I think it's the best way to ensure no messes. Good luck - ugh, the horrors of potty training. At least they learn fast! ;)

Syd who is 11 weeks will place his nose on the ground and start circling so that means it is definitely time to go out.

My Samantha who is 11 month's old will walk over to me and place her paw on my knee to let me know she needs to go potty!

Fiona will sniff the floor by the garden door, her butt swells, she would stop playing and go to the kitchen.
    Now she hits the bell.
