    Hi
Im new to the board and have a few questions. We have a new boxer puppy, 9 weeks and have decided to get his ears cropped. I would like to see some pics of show crops to show our vet. I want to make sure he knows what we want, which is a little longer crop, not the "doberman" type. Where can I find some good pics? We arent sure if we want to attemt to show him in conformation or go straight into agility. He has a small white spot on his nose, will this be considered a fault? He has a good bloodline (Treceders) with several Champions, especially on the dams side, but of course Im not sure he will make it, and would like to have him evaluated. If you have any sites that have good pics please let me know. I would love to see pictures of your show dogs.

    Check out this page:

There are links to Boxer breeders across the country, listed by state. I'd just surf their websites until you find some pictures you like. You may want to stick with breeders in your area, as they're likely to have the style of crop that is popular in that region.

I would highly recommend that you seek out a "specialist" for this type of surgery. If your vet does not know Boxer ears, you might want to find who in your area does. If your pup's breeder can't recommend someone, go to the breeders near you. Many of them will probably be willing to evaluate your boy, as well, to help you determine his show potential (although at 9 weeks, it's way too early to say for sure!).

As for the white spot on his nose - do you mean on the nose itself (the leather), or on his muzzle? White on the face/muzzle is find and desirable (if it's attractive). A white or pink spot on the nose leather will probably fill in as he matures.

Thanks for the reply and the link. I will check it out immediately. The white spot is actually on the leather but as you said, is getting smaller and smaller.

My vet won't do ears pass 10 weeks, my boxers were done between 6 and 7 weeks by my breeders vet who just does her dog's ear. He has raise and showed Boxers himself for many years. It is much easier on them at a younger age. My vet always checks my dog's ears out to copy the cut. They are a long show cut but stand so nicely. You can go to the American Boxer Site and there are many links to show Boxers. I am so glad my breeder does this because I don't think I could do it, did it once and said never again. It was my first boxer and she was 11 weeks old, she hurt real bad for about a week. There are more Boxers being shown with the natural ears now. Good luck.
