Short muzzle vs long muzzle

Hi
Flossie has a longer muzzle than a lot of the boxers. Whats up with that ? Her four legged parents are boxer( I met them! {:) Is it breeding ? Duh ? What I mean is there different variations? some of us have bigger noses some of us have little noses?

Different variations of what? Boxers? Sure. There are fawns, and there are brindles. But the variations stop there.

Nowhere in any of the breed standard for boxers does it use the word "or" as a matter of variety except as it relates to color.

The boxer is very much a "head" breed. It is what makes it unique, and as such it is important to retain the look and expression that make a boxer look like a boxer. When it comes to the head, and specifically the muzzle, the American breed standard uses no uncertain terms:

"The beauty of the head depends upon the harmonious proportion of muzzle to skull. The blunt muzzle is 1/3 the length of the head from the occiput to the tip of the nose, and 2/3rds the width of the skull."

So to answer your question, yes it's breeding. Bad breeding produces bad heads. That, of course, doesn't mean you can't love your boxer any less.
