Snatch (4years old) and Oxford (7month old) are both on Eagle Pack lamb (22% protein)
I would like to switch next bag - they can not have chicken based food (gas)

I noticed eagle pack have chicken fat, beet pulp... (but still a 4 star dog food..).. it doesn't sound the best...

I lean toward either
-Timberwolk dakota bison (26%)
-Timberwolf black forest (22%)
-Timberwolf elk (26%)
-Timberwolf lamb, apple, barley (28%) - but it has chicken fat too.. isn't this bad?
-Timberwolf ocean blue (26%) - also has chicken fat
-Merrick wilderness blend (24%)
-Fromm duck and sweet potatoes (24%)
-Taste of the wild pacific stream (25%)
-Wellness lamb (22%)

considering the dog food analysis website, only
-Merrick,
-Taste of the wild
-Timberwolf black forest or elk
don't have any "cons" in their review...

Taste of the wild would appear to be cheaper that the other ones.. but i am not sure how my boys' tummy would do with fish based food (they are good when i give then tuna)

any ideas? advices?
thank you!! :)
Chrystel.

Diesel Dog

Boxer Booster
Eagle Pack also has the Holistic Select Anchovy, Sardine & Salmon Meal Formula. its a 4 -star that is 22% also. Diesel liked it, had very little problems with it. Little to no Gas, the only draw back we had with it was, his Breath was very fishy.

I used to use Taste of the Wild, but I don't now because I emailed the company and asked them if their protein sources were ethoxyquin free and they told me "they could not give out that information", so obviously that means no so I no longer use it. I also used Timberwolf ocean blue formula and my dogs like it but since they changed their ingredients I no longer use it. Wellness Core is coming out with an ocean formula that looks really good. Go on their website and check it out. When I can get it, I am going to use that in my rotation. :)

I rotate Balboa between Merrick Cowboy Cookout and Wilderness Blend. He does great on both, though his stools are a little firmer on the Cowboy Cookout.

I thought Merrick didn't guarantee that their products were ethoxyquin free, either. Is there some new info out there that I haven't heard?

Snatch has been losing weight on Merrick.. I don't know why.. it's very strange. He went from 51lbs to 47lbs. we can slightly see his back bone

I just took him to the vet and everything is OK. He just told me that he needs to gain weight.. i feed him 3 cups/day (the max) - And Oxford don't eat his his food, since ii supervise every meal.

I just bought a new bag - I might have to change next coming bag...

he can not have chicken or beef.. so I can't really add meat to his diet for extra protein....

DiverDiva, Merricks is on the Whole Dog Journal's list so they're ethoxyquin free :)
