JEB was just diagnosed with a degenerative hip (he's 5 years old) and the vet has put him on Cosequin and Rimadyl. I've done a lot of research on Rimadyl and wondered what kind of results anyone else has had on it? I know there are risks involved, but I've also seen lots of people with great results. Any input is appreciated.

My parents six yr old blue tick is on Rimadyl and does really well with it. It takes a couple of weeks for you to see the full results and Blue got worse before he got better with it but it does make him much more comfortable now that he's been on it for a while.

Remy has arthritis (noticeable for about a year now) and the vet just gave me some Rimadyl. He explained that it is an anti-inflammatory (like Advil), and there are some side-effects. He said it is not something you would want to give every day for the rest of his life.

I started Remy on Glucosamine this August. I've seen a tiny improvement. He still has a hard time getting up in the morning and is very stiff and slow after playing hard.

I have a 3 year old Malumute/Shepherd with Hip Dysplasia, the vet has me give him the Rimadyl only when he has flare ups. He has done really well on it, it is no cure of course but it keeps him comfortable. Samson was also on Rimadly when he broke his toe, he broke out in hives with it, the vet just reduced the dosage and he was fine.
