I quess I am just full of questions today. I take Lulu everywhere with me and need advice on using a restraint in the car. I want something that she can lay down if she wants. I have leather seats in my car and she just slides all over. She is almost 4 months old and weighs 22 pounds. Is there something that will grow with her? What does everyone else do when travelling with their pals.??

There are throws you can buy that have a backing that stops them from sliding and I had a restraint that hooked onto the seat belt in the back seat that was like a harness. They could lay down with it. I think I got them at Fosters and Smith? Truth be told, now that they are grown, they just lay on the back seat-but it is not a good idea so you should get them used to some kind of restraint. Love you baby's name by the way :)

Cassius is 6 months old and use a restraint on him everytime we put him in the car. He now knows that if his seatbelt is on then he gets to come along!! I got mine from Petcetera, but petsmart has them as well. I found that with their large chest, one with a pad in the middle works best. As well, from petsmart, I purchased the petbuckle travel kit. It has the latch system with an extra seatbelt piece that gives him a little more leeway.

BTW, I too have leather seats and I bought some flannel and sewed some rubber like material to the bottom and now it is cozy and nonslip!! Hope this helps!

We use a sheet that we tuck in around the seat. I put slits in it for the seat belts, and use a restraint we purchased from Pets mart.

I have a sheep skin (fake) throw type thing that I put down to cover my back seat, and to make it more comfortable for Charlie Paper. His seat belt is attached to the regular car seatbelt via a bucket strap (availiable at any tack & feed store) so that he can have a little extra room to move, but still will be safe in the unfortunate event we get into an accident.

Hi there, my 3 month old THAI also comes everywhere with me but i have a van so there's only front seats.
I just bought a dog control lead from a company called Petmate which has a seatbelt clip attached so i can buckle him up when were out and about.

I have leather seats in my Blazer, I found that yes it is a lot of work but it works. The drawer rubber stuff that you put in the bottom of your silver ware drawer, put that on top of seat and the put your blanket over that. With boxers, leather seats are not your best friend!

Car Harness for Dogs

we us the RAC Car Harness for Dogs The Harness is fully adjustable with a padded strap around the dogs' chest and neck and girth straps to hold your dog securely and comfortably in place throughout the journey.
The car seat belt is simply fed through the nylon loop on the back of the harness and clicked into place as usual. You can us is to take the dog for a walk also by clicking your normal lead onto the d rings, as soon as we get the harness juke know he is going in the car. When in the car he goes in the same door all off the time and sits in the same seat all of the time and looks out of the window trying to bark at other dogs .
