Hi everyone,
I noticed that at the tops (start) of Bella's nails it is a reddish/brown color (inside) and the the rest of the nail is white. I don't have a pic, but scrolling through pics of other member's dogs I found a close up that resembles what I'm describing. I hope it's ok to post a link to another member's photo. After seeing this photo- I believe it's normal (although the pic is titled "gnarly feet"). Bella's nails aren't quite as dark. We have hardwood floors, and at first I thought it was from her jumping and running around on the hard floor. Just looking for confirmation that this is the norm. If not...off to the vet we go!

Thanks!! :)

A few of Paisley's toenails are like that. I've been wondering the same thing about the color. Why it's like that and where does it come from? Her breeder says it's normal that he sees it on his dogs a lot when he does their nails(with a dremmel). When he does Paisley's nails for m, the brownish-red color is ground of. It is only on the top of the nail and I think it's the oddet thing! If I upload any pics where you can see her toenails good, I'll tell you about them. ttyl...

Tyson's nails are like this too. If no one finds an answer, I'll ask the vet tomorrow (he has his last set of shots). I'm curious too.

Bama's nails are like this too! Sounds like it's a normal thing...but I'd love to know why they're like that.

I've been told it's tartar or it's yeast. I tend to go with the tartar theory, personally. :)

I also notice this; it seems to be worse on the front paws than the rear. It scales right off if you use the dremel lightly over the claw.
