I will be traveling on business to England soon. I'm so excited! Business is actually outside of London but I was hoping to do an over-night stay in London for sight-seeing on 2 weekend days. Then take the train to where I'll be staying west of London.

I would appreciate it if anyone can recommend a decent, not overly-priced hotel in London that is in a safe walking neighborhood, good area for sightseeing and somewhat close to Paddington train station? Any thoughts/advice on the Hilton Paddington? Thanks.

We loved London. We were there last year for our Honeymoon! We stayed at the St. Margarets Hotel in Bedford. The staff was real nice, but the accomodations were not exactly what I am use to:) Its important though to be relatively close to things so that you can walk or take a cab. The tube too is fantastic! They have really good transit system there.

I use tripadvisor.com alot. It's a great site b/c people can write reviews of places they have gone.

Have fun!

I usually stay at The Strand Palace when I am in London as it has such an excellent location, although the hotel looks a bit like a factory but it is very convenient for me. http://www.strandpalacehotel.co.uk/ (They have even renovated it). It is just off Covent Garden, opposite Savoy Theater. Only now whatever you do in London it is going to be extremely expensive, the US peso is really low against Euro or Pound.

Yep we found it expensive too b/c were from Canada and the Pound is almost 2.5 to our dollar! London is alot like NY. Expensive! You have to pay alot of money to stay in a decent place.
