Are chicken gizzards considered offal? If yes are they nutrient enough on their own or do i need to buy chicken livers/hearts to feed to them in small doses.

Yes, gizzards are offal (they're a form of second stomach that birds and a few other creatures have).

However, there is no single internal organ from any species of animal that can cover off all your offal needs. They're all rich in different vitamins and minerals, with differing properties. Offal needs to be a range of organs, not just one thing. Not every meal, but over time, you would need to include other organs in the diet.

thanks gmacleod ,

I am having trouble finding chicken offal and since my two are new to raw i haven't yet introduced them to beef or pork yet so i cant offer those offals yet.

Well, it's not going to matter if they don't get much offal in the first few weeks of a raw diet (i.e. before you introduce other meats). The gizzards are already a good start, and if things like chicken hearts or liver can be found it's even better (but not the end of the world if not).

As you introduce other meats, there's more opportunity to include offal in the diet. And in the long term, if chicken offal remains difficult to obtain, you just balance it up with the offal of other species.
