Chief is currently going through allergy tests due to the reoccuring Urticaria (hives) over the past three weeks. We're working on changing his current treats, shampoos, and medications a small bit at a time to see if anything should make a difference. Our vet is concerned that aside from an allergy, it could be "short coat pyoderma". Does anyone know anything about this pyoderma? What causes this? Is there any way it can be prevented? I'm just seeking more information should this be the cause. Any info would be appreciated!

Napoleon has major allergies too, but I have never heard of short coat pyoderma. Poor baby, I know he is miserable. Tell your vet you need more information and ask where you can get it. That is what I always do when mine throw something at me that I know nothing about. I am sure someone here on BW will know something too.

Sandy and Napoleon send slobbery boxer kisses and hugs to make Chief feel better. :lovicon:

Thanks Debbie! :)

The cornell hospital is 1 1/2 hrs. away... and our next appointment isn't for two weeks to see how the new meds take. So I was just searching for any info I could find prior to that. I'll check the net too... but so far no luck!

Pyoderma is basically and infection of the skin. It is usually treated with antibiotics. You may find the following article interesting.

Thanks so much! That article helped me understand what was going on a ton! It mentioned that it can be secondary to allergic reactions (which he's been having)! Our vet, thankfully, put him on the antibiotics that will take care care of this! :) I appreciate you finding this article!
