Hi to all!
I was just wondering if anyone had an opinons about Natures Vairety Praire formula Lamb Meal & Oatmeal. So far it the only thing I've been able to find in which my 9 month old boxer who has chronic IBD, agree's with. As well as his coat and everything looks good on, and he continues to grow and put on weight. Does anyone know anything about it, is it a good food? Thanks for your help everyone!!!

Well, if you go on www.dogfoodanalysis.com it is rated a 5 star food, so that is really good. If he is doing well on it, I would stick with it. I've never used it, but it appears by the ingredients to be a good food. If you haven't already, go to that site and check out the different foods. It's very interesting! :)

ha ha ha I just made this post i am feeding my 13 week old pup the same food he seems to love it. I saw it was a 5 star rated food and noticed it at my local pet store. my puppy Tank loves it and seems to digest it well

Sam and I were shopping around for a new food and tried the NV Lamb Meal and then the Venison (he looovvvved the Venison). However, since he likes his food moistened and it's preserved with citric acid, we switched off it due to the bloat risk. He now eats Canidae All Life Stages and likes it very much...probably not as much as the Venison, but it's not worth the risk to me!

I switched Jack from Canidae (he went from gobbling it up to snubbing it) to Nature's Variety Beef. He did not really woof it down, but he would eat it. Next bag was the salmon meal and he really liked it and is doing well. I am planning on going through the others - Venison and Chicken and see which one he likes best. I like how they formulate it for rotational feeding. That's a smart concept. I would like to try Orijen, but I can't find it anywhere local.

I really wish it wasn't preserved with citric acid because I soak Rolen's food too! I currently feed Rolen Timberwolf Organics Bison, but have been researching something different to switch to! He loves the bison, but I want to rotate food and since they changed the ingredients in the TW, I've been looking for something else!

Risk of soaking food coated with citric acid

We've had our boxer 6 months and no dog experience prior and have never heard of problems with soaking food that is coated with citric acid. I feed Canidae, our Roxy acts like it is only okay but does like it moistened much better. Could someone please explain the risk of citric acid coatings?
Thanks.

There's a sticky in the dog health issues and questions forum. It's named bloat risk factors. Hope that helps :) I soak Rolen's food as well and first found out about the citric acid risk factor on BW! What a great site! :) Now I always look when switching foods to make sure it's not preserved with citric acid.

citric acid

I was just on a web site the other day checking out different foods and ingredients (I cannot remember which web site it was) and it said by no means should you presoak the food if it has citric acid in the ingredients.
