Has anyone had any issues with this skin condition? My puppy has it and is on medicated shampoo and antibiotics. I also read that a hyoallergenic diet might help, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Pyoderma, or more commonly called "puppy pimples", is very common. It's no different than adolescent acne in humans. What kind of antibiotic are you giving? Is it a pill or topical cream? I think antibiotics is pretty extreme treatment of a harmless, and self resolving issue that you can treat with just cleaning the area with soap/shampoo a couple times a day.

Further, there is no need to change diet at this point, assuming you are already feeding a diet free of fillers and junk. As far as it being "hypoallergenic", I don't see any benefit in that as this isn't an immunodeficiency (allergy) issue.

Good luck.

Yes, Lola suffered with it badly :(
We had loads of tests done and tablets etc. They broke open and weeped. She had them on her back, they looked so sore it made me cry.

Here's a website I found on it when Lola had it

Also here's some pics I took of Lola's

Wow. That's a pretty extreme case, and not common. Most pyoderma is acute and superficial. Again, very common in puppies with an immature immune system. Usually just a minor bacterial infection of the outer layer of skin or a hair folicle. Cleaning twice a day with warm water and soap/shampoo has always done the trick for all of ours.

Yes in the end the vet said it was 'Deep Pyoderma'
They looked so sore and wept terribly, it seemed to go on for ages before they found out whay it was. Thankfully they've never come back.
At first they thought it might be mange of some kind despite me searching the net and coming up with the website I posted. I printed it out and took it in to them and they scoffed it could be that.
