Super Boxer
Our four month old boxer baby is hurting and I can't figure out what's wrong. After we got home and she ate dinner tonight, I noticed her yelping when she was playing with the other dogs. I thought they were being too rough with her, so I put her in the office with DH. He was just holding her face and giving her kisses on the top of her head and she yelped. So, we got her on the bed and starting rubbing her all over to see what hurt. I tried opening her mouth and she yelped really loudly. She's just sitting by me right now and I can tell something is wrong with her. She won't even give kisses. Occasionally when I touch the side of her face, she whines a little and she's shivering some. What could be wrong with her? Would just teething make her yelp like that whenever I try to open her mouth? I feel so bad for my baby right now. I don't want to wait until the morning to call the vet if it could be something serious but I have also been known to overreact when it comes to my babies. Anybody ever had something similar happen?

Teething shouldn't make her hurt like that. At least though, you do seem to have is kind of narrowed down to something the matter with her jaw or mouth - which although clearly uncomfortable, is unlikely to be life-threatening. I think a vet visit at the nearest opportunity is a good idea though.

I had a very similiar situation with my 5 mo little girl yesterday. It is a pulled/sprained muscle in her shoulder. She was having discomforet in her paw, leg, shoulder and even sensitive in the jaw and stomach area. She received a pain shot and is on pain medication to keep her down today. They said it may take 1 to 2 weeks to heal and to not let her play and take her ourside on leash so she does not have the opportunity to aggravate the injury.
