Boxer Booster
Hi there,

We have been looking around and have decided to get a second boxer (I think I must be crazy).

My question is, with Tyson, we could monitor his food easily (and still do), but when we bring in a puppy with puppy food, how do I make sure he gets his share and that they eat their own food?

Ty gets his meals twice a day, but tends to just snack here and until he has eaten it all. I KNOW having a second "kid," he will get jealous and think the puppy's food is "better" because he does this with my brother's boxer. They both insist on eating eachother's food instead of their own whenever either of us doggysit.

Any suggestions?

Well, when I got my second boxer I fed them both in the kitchen at the same time, and still do. Do you leave food down all day? If so, you might want to rethink that with a second. Feed them at the same time and then pick up the bowls when they are done so there is no aggression towards the food. With a puppy, you may feed three times a day instead of two so what I do is when I feed Buster lunch, I give Roxy a snack at the same time. My DH made the mistake of not doing that when I was away one day and Roxy tried to eat out of Buster's (5 mo. old) bowl and he about took her head off. So, I wouldn't be leaving food down all day because without monitoring you don't know how one will react towards the other. Good luck and congrats with the new puppy! :)
