Before we all had to move there was a topic posted about pet insurance. I just got my premier policy in the mail today. It looks pretty good (I'm an insurance agent) with no hidden things.

Their web site is www.ppins.com . If you have have any questions or want info about the actual policy email me.

(I am glad I got to update my name and add Amaya to it instead of just Brutus' mom

I thought VPI was a bit weasly and chincy on their payouts. I would go with the Premiere if I did not now have a pre-existing condition to contend with, that is covered under VPI already. The $40 per illness co-pay is a bit much, THEN they still apply a "Bnefits allowance" (which is still lower than my reasonable vet charges THEN they give you 80% of that.

If you have VPI, at leat cancel the "Routine Care Coverage". It costs $99, but they only pay out $95 for the routine stuff, so you LOSE $4., and if you don't submit bill in 180 days, lose all. We are talking $15 reimb. for heartworm pills and tests-together...If you routinely screen the blood, you get back another $65, for a total of $160, ($95 is for all the usual stuff- heartworm, rabies, Bordatella, Lyme, topical flea/tick..).
Yes, if you pay $350 per year for the regular coverage and have a catastrophe, like we did ($4,000, of which they should pay maybe $1,900), then yes, it may appear to be worth it. However, you just need to consider the fact that for some dogs, like our Dachsund, we pay $200 per year, and may go 15 years without getting any reimbursement. Premiere, I read, charges only a $100 YEARLY deductible-much better for chronic sufferers.

PS; "DOG FANCY"-SEPTEMBER ISSUE-HAS AN ARTICLE ON PET INSURANCE
