Boxer Pal
Hi all,

I have a new boxer puppy, 8 week old as of today. I have found this site to be extremely helpful so far. Peyton sometimes pounces and snaps during playtime. I have read about the "ouch" technique etc. Just wondering if this is a "normal" trait a boxer pup displays. We started the "ouch" from day one and she is making great progress.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Yes, it's pretty normal for a boxer pup to play like that. They're often pretty vocal with it too ;)

Letting the pup know with the squeal of "ouch" when they go too far is a good idea. They need the feedback to figure out how to behave, and how to be gentle enough to play - and that takes a bit of time. Here is an excellent article about teaching bite inhibition (it's a process that takes a few months) that is very much worth reading and following: http://www.jersey.net/~mountaindog/berner1/bitestop.htm
