Poor old Billy got bitten on his nexk by a labrador on Tuesday. Yesterday my daughter said 'Daddy what is this lumpy skin under Billy's neck?' We looked and there was a loose 'bag' of fluid hanging under his throat and his cheeks were all swollen. I rang the vet and they have given him some antibiotics and said it is an abscess caused by this bite. Billy looks so sorry for himself and it obviously hurts as he won't let us touch it. In a couple of hours I'm taking him back to the vet to get it lanced! Just remember everyone - if you dog gets bitten wash it with antiseptic - I didn't and now look what's happened. I'll let you know how he gets on.

Poor Billy! I hope that the vet gives you a good report and that Billy is feeling much better soon. I know someone who had the same experience not long ago with their Boxer. They took him to the vet, got medications and he got on just fine. Best wishes to you and to Billy!

I took billy back to the vet this morning and he drained a bit of blood from the baggy bit hanging under his throat, and there was no pus in it, so we're just going to leave it and continue with the antibiotics. then at lunch time today, there was blood seeping from the would so I bathed it clean. I think this is a good sign, although the baggy bit is still big under his chin - a handful.
