So Mindy and Buffy have been home for a week now and I am not getting much sleep :( Mindy wants to get up at 2am every morning to go out and then play. I am so frustrated b/c I am very sensitive when it comes to getting the right amount of sleep. She did not do this at my parents house, we would go to sleep at 10pm and she would sleep until 8am without getting up. I have no idea what is going on. They go out for the last time between 10 and 11 and after that have no access to water. If it wasn't every night I wouldn't be getting upset, but every night!!? I don't want to have to put her in her crate, but I am wondering if I am going to have to. Any ideas as to why she is doing this or how I can get her to stop? Thanks in advance.

I didn't get much sleep with Casper when he was a pup. Infact I slept with him in the lounge for weeks as it was quicker to get him out and didn't want to leave him with Lola 7 zeb in case they squashed him.

One of the reasons I did not want a puppy :) It shouldn't be an issue of puppy behavior, she is somewhere between 18-24 months and has done just fine for the past 6 months at my parents, it is only this week since we have finally been home.

It has just become a habit. Zoe did the same with me. I let her out because I thought she had to go but I think she enjoyed the eve outing. I put her in a crate and went out with her on a leash and right back to the crate. Problem was solved. I kept her in the crate for a week but she stoped whinning to go out at night 3.

April do you think she really has to go out? Or has she got you trained? Jack used to try this when he was a puppy. He would want to play in middle of the night. We had to be very stern with him and tell him to go back to his bed. The first few nights we put him out because we thought he really had to go but realized he would go any time we put him out and he was just playing us. I realized he didn't actually HAVE to go and made him go back to bed. They can be so manipulative can't they!

Honestly, I can't tell if she has to go or not, but part of the that is she wakes up Buffy and then Buffy does have to go. She does go when I let her out, but then she thinks it is playtime.

We did manage to sleep until just before 6am this morning, so maybe we just needed some adjustment time. I am keeping my fingers crossed for another good night tonight.
