Please Help If You Can

Hi, I am here looking for some help. My sister is 18 years old and has a neurological disease called rett syndrome. She was not suppose to ever walk or talk, but she has shocked us all. She is a true miracle. She has progressed to the mentality of a somewhere of a 2 to 4 year old. I, myself, got a miniature pinscher for Christmas and my sister fell in love with him. Unfortunatly I moved out on my own (taking my min pin with me). My sister has been heart broken. I grew up hearing all the wonderful stories of the boxer my parents had before children. They had a fawn and a brindle (Princess and Bubbles). I know how wonderful and special these dogs are especially with those that may have problems or are smaller than they are. So now my parents want to get my sister (and themselves a new pet because even though they would never admit it, they miss my puppy too). They have been looking for a pet for this special little girl. If anyone out there has any advice, please contact me via the message board. I know that we can find her the perfect boxer so that she is not lonely any longer.

We don't allow people to post litter announcements or to sell puppies through this site. Boxerworld also wholeheartedly supports responsible breeding practices only, including the genetic health testing of all breeding stock (the boxer breed unfortunately is prone to a number of genetically inherited disorders that need to be screened for prior to breeding). Thus, we only allow the promotion of breeders who do appropriate health testing (and are willing to provide hard copies of the results to prospective buyers) on this site.

The list of breeders who have asked that their details be included can be found at http://www.boxerworld.com/breeders, as can a description of the health tests that should be performed on the parents of any puppy you consider buying. It's not an exhaustive list though, so if you don't find anyone suitable there, your local boxer club is the best place to start. They should be able to point you toward a responsible breeder in your area who may have a litter coming up

An alternative, if you're interested in going that route, is boxer rescue There are many wonderful dogs out there in desparate need of a loving home. You could check out our rescue forums, if that is a possibility for you.

I would totally agree that Boxer Rescue would be the place to go for a wonderful pet for your sister. You can explain the situation and they will do their level best to find the most suitable boxer for your sister and her special needs.

There are so many, many boxers across the country who need good, loving caring homes. Your home sounds like just that kind of place!

I really hope you will consider boxer rescue. A pup is adorable, but also a lot of work and lots of the boxers in rescue are past the goofy puppy stage and much calmer...this would be especially helpful to your sister as a large dog like a boxer (though they are a medium breed dog) can wreak havoc and unintentionally knock down or hurt your sister. Many rescues will offer incentives such a training classes at reduced fees and the like! Good luck to you & your family in your search!

Yep completly agree with you Mama zookeeper. Puppieswill be puppies regardless of what breed they are. Wreaking havoc? yeah...been there

Jr champagne i think a boxer would be a good breed for your sister, and the boxer rescue makes good sense. Good luck!
