The reason that I am asking is because I have agreed to take care of a 8 month rotwiller while the owner tries to find rides for him from Washington to Ohio. He lived out here and had to fly home due to his Mother in bad health. I pick Turk up today at 3:00 p.m. I just want to know if they get along okay. I am sure that dogs are not prejudice of each other. And if you have one any tips on a puppy would be great. I just want to help this guy get his baby back. He was boarding him for $100.00 a week and I told I could watch him for a week for free to help him out. Is this going to be a goode combination? And do you think that I am doing the right thing? Any tips on getting him home? I have suggested flying. Sorry so long and probally confusing (it has been a long week) and so many questions. I love this board and the deverse comments and inputs. Everyone is great. Please do not be to hard on me.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for your input/advice/comments it is very much appreciated.

You are doing the right thing. Since the rot is a puppy, you shouldn't have any trouble with your babies. It will take them a day or two to get used to him, but I think they will be fine. I agree that you should contact the rescue board as they could probably set up the transport of the puppy to his owner. I would not let him fly, especially in this heat. I just heard of a story where a plane sat on the runway for about 5 or 6 hours due to traffic and they had several dogs on board. The dogs had been put in the cargo hold and they all died!!! It was too hot. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Brutus and Amaya play with the Rot next door all the time. I think everything depend on the individual dogs personality. The rot next door is a alpha bitch. Bru is basically the alpha male of the neighborhood and Amaya can be dominanted by a flea. As a group they get along well but the neighbor dog does not get along with any dominant females.

I am watching the neighbor this weekend and thinking about letting her sleep her instead of alone in her house. I'll let you know if I do and what came up with a guest in the house.

Hi, we have a 3.5yr boxer dog (castrated) and last Easter we brought home a 14 wk rottie dog puppy. Billy (the Boxer) absolutely loved him - and still does. Tommy is now 7 mths and they play together, often sleep together and wash each other. As the rottie you are getting is still young, I don't expect you would have any trouble, and as your dogs are older they will be alpha to him. Let us know how you get on.

I think they'll be just fine. When I lived at home we had a female boxer "Sadie". Everyone was scared to death of her, but I don't know why. I think rotties have gotten a bad reputation because a handful of people. They are really wonderful dogs, although not quite as wonderful as our boxers :) I think especially with him being a pup you'll be fine. Good luck!
