Hi Everyone,

Not sure if anyone has heard of this or had an experience.

I noticed yesterday that my 3 month old male pup had a creamy yellow/greenish "dischrage" on his penis.
I wiped it off with some luke warm water and checked it a bit later and it wasn't there. I checked again and noticed that it was back. it was a very small amount *( the size of a pin head)

I will have to check for it today but has anyone had this problem??

He is going to the bathroom normally and acting fine.

Thanks
Julie

That is normal. It is a pre ejaculate called smegma. I was wondering that also and even took my guy to the vet. I thought he had an infection (were not positive it wasn't) but the vet thought it was probably that. It is common in male pups. :)

Don't do what I did when Zeb was a pup, I went rushing to the vets only for him to tell me Zeb wasn't cleaning himself properly and charged me for the privalidge

It's most likely smegma like everyone else said. My pup is eight months old now and has the same issue.

Thanks everyone,

Should i clean it for him or should i leave that for him?? Does this mean this is the "heat" process for males, cause he has been mounting as well, which he usually doesn't do!!

Does Diarrhea usually accompany this?

My dog was having some soft stools for a few days and now as of last night and this AM it is like a water bowel movement.??

Man this male stuff is crazy!!!

Thanks
Julie :)

It's normal, Jake is 4 years old and still gets that. It's gross, but it's a guy thing. Leave it for him to care for, you'll take up half your day running after him to wipe that stuff. The bad thing is when they shake close to a wall -or the front of your fridge- it splatters- YUK - right along with the "after eating slobbers", but thats why I am forever wiping my walls and front of my fridge. It's funny because a friend of mine and I were having this conversation last week, she has a Male terrier of sorts-can't remember the breed, but she kept finding these dribbles on the top of her couch where he lays, when she called me about it she had figured it out and was asking if it was normal. I told her "yeah, Jake does the same thing" although at least not on the couch....

Wiping it away is up to you. My pup doesn't mount yet thank goodness. He used to when he was smaller, but he doesn't seem to do it much anymore. We never had any bowl problems associated with this, so that may be something different, but I'm definately no expert. Have you changed foods recently or anything in his diet?

well we changed his food about two weeks ago and is doing great.. what i have done is slowly stopping the tables spoon of wet canned dog food.. So not sure if maybe that is what is making him have diarreha.. but im going to keep an eye out for a few more days and if it doesn't subside i think i will have to make a visit to the vet.

Im glad that his "boy issue" is not much of an issue. thanks for all the responses..
i think i have saved myself from a lot of vet bills.. ! lol

thanks everyone
