I stated earlier that my boxer is 7 months old, is it okay to go ahead and switch him to adult dog food, or do I need to wait?

At 7 months, you can certainly change to an adult food. Pups don't need to have different foods from adults (and many adult foods are better anyway), they simply need more of it (proportionately). Just the same as with humans ;)

Anyway, most people who do use puppy food at all switch somewhere between 4-6 months. The big growth spurts are well over by then, and it's just a steady climb to maturity (reached at about 3 years). Even those food manufacturers that make separate puppy formulas normally recommend switching by 6 months.
