I need some help and support from my fellow boxer lovers... today when I came home to my surprise Lady-girl had killed my other dog a chihuahua/dachshund mix(I've had for 8 yrs)... both females, got along fine for 7+ months, and today something happened... I was gone all day xmas shopping and paying utilities, both fed and watered just like any other day when I have errands and to my surprise it wasn't a good day here at home... I was shocked, horrified and so saddened... Lady was hovering over the body of My Roxy like it was hers and her's alone... she was vicous towards me and even my other boxer Rocky... I'm still ill filling over the whole incident, and to no surprise I had to do what any other person I think would do... I called animal control out to get her... she wouldn't even let me get close to her... I know when we got Lady she was a little wild from running the streets, but she showed every single person in the family nothing but love and happiness... she had slipped into our routine wonderfully, more so then any top dollar dog who had thousands of dollars spent on trainers... she was meant for us... I told the kids in a round-about way what happened, and I told them it's sad and there was no way I could keep her because my priority was my kids and even my other furbabies, I told them to think of her as having a loving caring home for 7+ months and that was her piece of heaven... I guess I'm trying to justify calling animal control... it killed me to see them put her in the back of the truck and it even kills me more to think how cold my baby girl is tonight, wondering why she isn't in her cozy home with all of us, it's in the low 30's tonite and it's killing me... I sent her blanket with them, but I'm not sure they will give it to her... I'm crying my tears for the loss of such a sweet baby girl that turned bad... no way did we even imagine she could even harm another pet, besides the occasional birds she would catch and eat... I guess I was asking for it in a way, that was a tell tell sign... but I closed my eyes to it...

so without too much judgment please re assure me I did the right thing, and if you have to lay into me for not doing it the way you would have, then I guess go ahead and make me feel even worse then I do currently... any kind words are greatly appreciated... Rocky misses his Lady terribly and so do her skin ppl...

I am SO very sorry - my heart hurts for you, and because of your multiple loss and shocking tragedy. I just can't imagine what you have gone through and how you are feeling now. I doubt that words could comfort you much right now, but please know I am so very sorry for your pain and your family's loss of your beloved dogs.

Your story brought tears to my eyes! I looked at your photo gallery and what amazying pictures you have of Lady fitting right into the family. She is a beautiful girl. All I know to say if that I'm praying for her and for your family. I know this was a horrible loss for you.

I have two females and when we are not home we like to keep them seperated. Our babies stay crated when we are not home to make sure something like this does not happen. They have never shown signs of something terrible but we happen to have a very dominate female so I'm always very cautious.

I wish you and your family the best.

I am so sorry for your terrible losses. What a horrible scene to come home to. Your post broke my heart. Of course you have to protect your household-no one could ever question your judgement on that. Your sad story makes me cry for all of you. I hope sweet memories of both your dogs can help you and your famliy through this. Sometimes there are NO signs and we just have to deal with reality. Again, so very sorry you are going through this. God bless

That is just a nightmare of a situation. I couldn't imagine anything like that happening. Your poor family. Unless I was in that situation, I don't know what I would have done, but probably the same thing. I don't think I could trust her again around any other animal or child. I don't know how you could keep a dog like that unless it was monitored 24/7 and that's a bit hard to do in everyday life. I'm very very sorry for your losses. :(

Wow, what a nightmare. I think you did the right thing, even though it was so difficult. Can you arrange with animal control to have her sent to a boxer rescue organization or the like? I know she may be beyond any intervention, but just a thought to help with how badly you feel about everything.

Hang in there.

This is SO sad. We are very sorry to hear of both of your losses. I really can't imagine what you are going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Maybe there is a medical reason for the turn. I had a friend who had his police K-9 turn on him and his family. It turned out to be a tumor.
