Hi all,
just thought i'd share this story. we have an almost 3-year-old boxer (Prince) and decided we wanted to get him a playmate. everyone knows how great adoption is- so we decided to adopt another dog! so we searched the boxer rescue websites and after being approved for adoption, decided we wanted a female dog, younger than prince. there were not many young females available, so at the suggestion of the rescue, we decided to go and meet a 6.5-year-old male, Colors. we were concerned about if they'd get along (2 males in one apartment) and we were unsure about it because we really wanted an active playmate for Prince.
Well, the moral of this story is that older dogs rock! we decided to go for the older boxer Colors, and it is working out beautifully! He is just as active as Prince (though he does like to sleep more!) and is such a wonderful doggie! i just wanted to share this story with everyone because we were one of 'those people' who wanted to adopt a younger dog, but we were lucky enough to take a chance on an older chap and couldn't be happier!
so oldies are goodies:D- please don't hesitate to adopt a middle-aged or senior boxer!
