Cami
Boxer Insane
I was a "little" peeved this morning on my walk with Cami. An elderly couple saw us and were getting out of their car. They seemed to be waiting for us so we continued towards them. Once we got to within hearing distance of them the gentleman replied that they loved Boxers and that they had just recently lost an 8 year old. The woman then replied that theirs was healthy looking......not chubby and so stocky as Cami.....
It's true that in Cami's case her last few ribs are not perfectly obvious at all times but you can see them when she moves a certain way or is running. The vet has never said anything to me about her weight....he has mentioned however that she is extremely muscular and has an athletic build, (thought all boxers were qualified as athletic builds?) Anyhow, so now I have a complex!
She is 57lbs and just shy of a full 22 inches tall. Both of which are within the breed standard. I don't see an ounce of fat on her, but am willing to go with the description of "thick".
I know that we should not let others negative comments bother us, but she is my child and I can't help the way I feel. Perhaps if I had true "boxer people" give me an opinion of her (good or bad) I would feel better.
If I am just turning a blind eye to her weight I would love to be put in my place so I could help her get in better condition.....I know that it is healthier for her to be smaller vs larger.....
Any opinions?
Thanks in advance,
Susi & Cami
