I'm a little concerned that Moab hasn't put weight back on after his last growth spurt so I thought I'd check in and see in this has happened to others.

Moab's 18 months old and about 6 weeks ago, went thru another growth period where, as always, he got a little skinny and was eating more. Normally, once the growth spurt is over, he puts weight back on and goes back to a more normal eating routine. We're feeding him Canidae and normal for him is 1.5 cups in the morning and 1.5 cups in the evening. Anything less and he starts dropping weight. Of course, if he's doing training, we cut back the food since we make up for it in treats.

Lately, I've upped his morning feeding to 2 cups and kept the evening feeding at 1.5 cups. However, you can still slightly see the little knobs on his spine and when he lays on his side, I can count three ribs clearly with the fourth more visible than normal. He's full of energy and seems completely normal. He's not sleeping any more than usual but with DH home during the days now, he is a lot more active (getting more play time, longer walks, etc.)

I don't want to over feed him but at this point, I'm wondering if he's getting enough to eat. Anyone have any input or ideas?

I wouldn't worry about it, Boxers grow at different rates but don't really fill out so to speak until 24 months+. As long as he's eating fine and playing he sounds healthy! I wouldn't up his food just to put weight on, just feel it out for a few months. If he starts losing weight, you may need to up his food based on the fact that he is exercising so much.

My Millie is 10 months and she is a very slow grower, it took her 4 months to go from 43 lbs to now 48 lbs. But she never loses weight so I'm not worried. She is very active and on the skinny side, but I know that is normal for her age and that I am feeding the correct amount.
