Hello everyone I have a 4mth old boxer called Maddie she's my little baby. She has got into a habit of biting her back legs near her thigh as if she has flees. It's always the same area and I have had a good look and the only thing I have found is the hair in this area seems to grow in two directions which might be causing irritation.
Has anybody else had the same problems or has anyone got any ideas?
It's driving both of us mad!
Yours Hopefully,

My Maggie did that too when she was a pup. I asked the vet about it and she said it didn't appear to be allergies or anything and was probably just a "puppy" thing. She'd grow out of it. Well, she has. She doesn't do it anymore so I think it is just a puppy thing where they are learning to "scratch" with their teeth. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless she's chewing to excess and drawing blood or irritating the area a lot.

Good luck.

Our cocker spaniel is VERY allergic to flea bites. Actually it is the saliva from the flea bite. Alot of dogs can be bitten by one flea one time and start doing this because of the allergy to the saliva. I tried Frontline for the fleas and the vet gave her a shot for the itching. Once she got that cleared up, she stopped biting. She was so bad that her legs were almost hairless! :(
