Just out of curiosity, I am wondering what resolutions we all have and how we are doing with them so far. Steve and I have resolved to learn Spanish. However, we are not yet doing well as Steve has been sick and we promised to do it together. Our tentative start day is to be Monday. I did however, install the program into the computer so at least I m ready.  I hope everyone is doing well with theirs and wish you all much luck. :)

Mine was to be more attentive to my school work. I have done well enough in the past but thought now that I am done in 3 semesters and I am double majoring, if I put more time into it, I will get more out of it.

So far, I am not doing very good with that. I am taking a winter session class and I hate the subject (Business Statistics) so I have to force myself just to get what I have to get done done. Maybe I will officially start my resolution when the semester starts in a couple of weeks

The only resolution I'm making this year is to pad my savings account. I'd like to have enough money to open a Roth IRA by the end of the year (need $2500). I'm relatively young still (25) and I've always been pretty good about sticking to a budget. Just now I have to incorporate more savings into that. I need to learn to pay myself FIRST! ;)

You can sooooo do that! And it will pay off big time, so much sooner than you think. Really it's only $50. a week. Is there something that you splurge on every week that you can easily give up? Watch it mounting up in an account might make it easier for you. So many ways to do this, you can open an account and add to it weekly, monthly, at the end of the year open your ROTH. You can just keep the money jar on your dresser if you need a visual. Some people like to see actual greenbacks, others prefer earning the interest on their money (hmmmmm, guess which I would encourage).

Everything you invest now, compounds more and more every year. So proud of you! appicon

Thanks for the encouragement! :) I recently cancelled my gym membership because I have equipment at home and I was never going anyway. So instead of paying $25 a month to a gym I never went to, I now have an automatic withdrawal to my savings account for that same $25. I've also started eating at home more. Not only is it going to save me extra money, but it should help with a little weight loss! I used to go out to eat A LOT because it was convenient, but now I try and go out just once a week. I can definitely find things here and there to cut back on. For example, shopping for purses and shoes. They are both my weakness and I just need to stop buying any more because I have plenty now! Also it's raise time at work in a couple months, so I plan on stashing away any extra I get per paycheck.

Last year I started walking a lot more and lost 15 pounds. My resolution was to keep it up by walking the dogs at least twice a day each. I even walked them the other day when it was 20 degrees! So far so good.

Aside from the standard of losing 40 lbs. , DH and I resolve to find our new home in 2008! We resumed our Sunday rituals of touring open houses this afternoon!

What is a resolution? Just kidding  I am with the few others that realized for us a resolution was pointless. I commend the others that set one and stick to it. By the way, Spanish is pretty easy to learn. A pointer is to start with verbs and conjugate each tense to learn the different ways to use the words. !Via con Dios!
