I hope everyone had blackeyed peas & jowl for New Years, this is a tradition in the south. It will bring you good health, luck & prosperity!

Okay, I'm originally from the south. We've done blackeyed peas for years, but what are jowls?

We always have another Christmas day on New Years Day only without the pressies in our house only with beef not turkey. Mum & dad used to do this too when we were kids.

Here,(of course not everybody does this) we eat pork and cabbage(sauerkraut especially) for luck and prosperity in the new year. I did my duty, so hopefully it is a lucky prosperous year for me:)

Here we eat sauerkraut (sp?) and pork on New Years Day but no potatoes. SOmething about if you eat anything grown underground you will be "digging in the dirt" all year. I don't know, never heard of such a thing until I got with Stephen. I like to eat potatos with my kraut so it is harder for me but the next is great because we have a feast with lots of potatos!

We are a bit redneck around here so at midnight, everyone shoots guns.
