Chinadoll

Boxer Buddy
Hello everyone, Well to get started I just moved in to a new house. At the old house we didn't have a fenced in yard, the new house has a huge fenced in yard. At the old house China never barked at anyone while outside on the leash or for walks but here all she does is bark at everything...a car...a person...a bird......a leaf!
The funny thing is she also charges at the fence while barking (Which she sounds like a hound dog) and runs in to it. She now remembers there is a fence after a month. Also what is so funny about her charging the fence is the whole time she is wiggling her butt. The people next door don't like my dogs, I can tell by the face they give them when they are outside. Hope I don't have problems in the future.
Here is a question, When your boxer does bark,( as in at a stranger not playing) what do they sound like? Like I said before China sounds like a hound dog. And Jazz hasn't yet to bark, only for play.

Billysmum

Boxer Insane
I wouldn't say Billy sounds like a hounddog but it is quite a deep throaty bark - definately a 'big dog' bark.

Luckily my neighbour has a dog and so she doesn't mind.

Perhaps it's just taking time for your dog to settle in and get used to the new sights and sounds.

Why don't you try inviting your neighbours round for a coffee or something and they can get to know your dog. Perhaps then she won't bark at them when she hears them in their garden.

New Nieghbors

Inviteing your nieghbors over is a great way to let the dogs meet them. Also you may want to go outside to your mutual fence and ask them to come over to thier side. If the dogs see that it is OK for them to be there and you are not upset it may help to ease the situation :) If the dogs continue to bark but are friendly, buy the nieghbor a box of dog biscuits and ask them to give the dogs 1 when they come out, I bet China is just trying to say "Hello, Come Play With Me!". Once they meet them I am sure they will be converted :D After all who can resist that little nubby going 100 miles an hour!
