First I want to say that my puppy is fine.... I just got my White Boxer puppy last week, He will be 7 weeks this Wednesday. Here is what happened just a few hours ago :-( My puppy was sound a sleep and then all of a sudden he woke up and it sounded like he was choking!!!! I picked him up, there was nothing in his throat!!! He kept gagging and started foaming at his mouth. I put him down for one second while I put my shoes on (I was taking him to the vet!!) when I put him down he just collapsed on the floor. He didn't pass out but he was very lethargic!!!! Then within a second or two after picked him back up, he was fine. I was still going straight to the vet. I thought there might of been something in his throat. On the way to the vet.... he did the same thing three more times and the vet is only 10 minutes from my home.... only five minutes doing 60+ miles an hour!! To make this long story short...... I forgot the medical terminology for what he has but his tonsils are swollen and his throat is red. The vet gave me an antibiotic and a cough suppressant. The gagging that I was hearing was from a cough not because he was choking. The vet said that he was fine.... I kept questioning her because it was so scary, what I was hearing did not seem like a cough.... she assured me that he was ok (he had an attack right in front of her so she knew what he was doing). She said at first she thought he had Kennel Cough but quickly ruled that out.

Sorry this is so long but I had to share my story.... I am still shaking from the experience!

What an experience! I hope Captain makes a rapid recovery Tracy. We have had a few quick dashes to the vet over the years and I've often wondered if we could get a police escort :)

What a scary experience. I'm glad that Captain is okay. I hope he totally recovers quickly.

Thank goodness your baby is ok. That would have scared me to death, too. I've never heard of them having swollen tonsils! Mine have had sore throats and mild coughs, too. Do you think he will have to have his tonsils out??!! Give him a hug from Indy and Beauty!
