Earlier this week I was down in bed with the flu. Britany being my constant companion decided she should be in bed too. On Tuesday night we watched Homeward Bound and at the end I said lets go back to bed Brit. She went to get off the couch and could not put any weight on her front right leg. I thought she must of laid too long and it went to sleep. So, I let her outside and had her walk around abit to see if she would recover. Well 3 hours later she was still limping. We went to bed and she cuddled and hugged all night and wanted assistance in gettin off the bed. In the morning I bounded out of bed (heading for the bathroom AGAIN.) and she was right behind me. I thought good she is over it. Sympathy pains whatever. Last night 2 days later she is limping again. And again this morning. She lets me massage her leg. I checked for cuts etc. My husband took her to the vet today and he said to keep her calm for a week and see what happens. He told my husband that alot of cancers start with leg pains. I am scared of this as this is how we lost Cinders. She was 14 and Brit is 8. So if anyone has any insite on this we would greatly appreciate your imput. Sorry this is long.

Just wondering how your girl is doing now? I think all of our Boxers have experienced lameness at one time or another becasue they are totally nuts :D A bit of a rest generally resolves the problem. Hope she is feeling better - keep us updated.

She is still limping and she has stopped jumping on us. I thought she would always have that bad habit. We are giving her an asprin a day and trying to keep her quiet. If she isnt better in a week we are considering taking her to a chiropractor. I think something is wrong with her back and that leg is not functioning right. Sorry I get so into the boxer ring that I did not look to put the thread here. Thanks. Anyone ever tried a chiropractor?

Some x-rays or MRI might be in order. Is the aspirin helping any? I'd get a second or third opinion if it were me.

SOrry I can't be of more assistance. Please keep us posted. Our best thoughts are beings sent your way :)

same thing, back leg

Please let me know if you find anything out about her leg..

My Nikki had the same problem, but with her hind leg. The limping would come and go, she had trouble getting up, etc. I initially thought the same, she pulled a muscle or she strained herself. I gave it a few days and she seemed to get worse. The day I took her to the vet she seemed fine. Dr. checked her out, xrays and all. Gave us some pills (cant recall what kind) and off we went.

Well the problem persisted, getting better, getting worse. I ran her back in when she seemed at her worst. She is turning seven this spring and I thought well maybe it is arthritis? Again, check up and xrays were inconclusive. She got better and six months have passed and she is no longer limping?

Haven't a clue.

Is Britany overweight? I had a rottweiler, Michaela, whom I let get too heavy. Around 6-7 years old, she developed shoulder problems and would favor one foreleg a lot, then started favoring the other as well. The first vet I saw took x-rays and said she had degenerative problems that were untreatable. The second vet recommended a diet, and daily aspirin. Within 6 weeks, she was a new dog!!! I felt terrible for causing her problem. Within 6 months, she was fit and trim as a two year old, and much more active. (active rottweiler = sedated boxer!)

It was funny when the person that helped me adopt her as a 4 year old came to visit around that time. She said, in her wonderful British accent, "My GOD Linda, is that a dog, or a coffee table!" I had to admit she was right... I'll never make that mistake again!

In all fairness to the first vet, Michaela did succumb to degenerative spinal problems as a 10 year old, so he may have been right in his diagnosis, but not his prognosis.
