You probably could catch my excitement in my other posts about bringing Mack home in two weeks. I am, right now, the opposite of that excitement.
A month ago, before I bought Mack, I went to my apartment management and asked them what their restrictions for dogs were. The woman said "well we require a 500 refundable pet deposit, which you can pay in installments. The dog must also be 60 pounds or less." Knowing some boxers get to be more than 60 but many don't and that Mack would not be full grown before I left these apartments, I was very excited. So, I bought Mack, after going off what my apartment lady said, knowing he met those requirements.
I go to the apartment management yesterday to tell them when Mack is coming home. All of a suddent this has changed:
Now, I have to fill out an application, was never told this.
Now, the pet deposit must be paid up front, never told this! (but manageable)
Now they have a restricted breeds list. Guess what is on that list? Boxers.
She said a breed gets on the list by being known as an aggressive dog or being over the size limit.
I told her that, based on the information an empolyee there told me, I bought my puppy already. I told her that the only thing I was told was about the 60 pound limit. Now I have to go back tomorow morning and talk to the head lady to see if she will make an exception.
Talk about heart broken! I've been so excited, researching for almost a year, went to my apartment management, cleared it with them, only to find out that their employee either did not know or tell me all that I needed to know. Its like a small punch in the gut!
I'm a pastor, so I'm big into praying and yes while there are huge issues out there like world hunger, I also think God wants to hear about the smaller personal things. So for those of you that pray, pray management is understanding that their person made a mistake and that they make an exception. I'm usually a 'tough guy' and don't like to admit when I'm sad but I would simply be heart broken if they tell me tomorrow they won't budge.
I'll let you all know tomorrow!
