Okay, we went to a college football game last night that didn't start until 8:20 pm and is 2 1/2 hours from our house. I took Buster to my mom's for her to babysit because I didn't want to leave him crated for the 10 hrs. we would be gone. I told her to feed him at 7:00 and put him in the crate at when she went to bed at 10:30 or 11:00 pm and he would sleep until we picked him up at about 2:30 am. We get there at 2:30 and she is still up with him. I asked her why she didn't she just go to bed? She said he wouldn't let her! She put him in a crate that she has (which is not his) and he cried and cried and threw a fit. Then she put him on the back porch (which is finished, nice) and put his bed out there and put up a baby gate. Well, he threw a fit and knocked down the gate. He refused to go to bed so she had to sit with him until we got there! She couldn't put him in her bed as she has three Shelties that sleep with them, and two of them definately wouldn't let him in there. I felt so bad. I don't think she'll ever babysit him at night again!

What an adventure for them both! Don't feel bad, he will need to learn to be OK when you are not home from time to time. Perhaps you could bring his bedding next time...see if that makes a difference. I bet he would have been very happy sleeping on the sofa with her!

Your poor Mom!!! How good was she to "sit up with him". Lots of folks would have put in earplugs and let him whine :) I think it was just unfamiliar to him-mine have to be totally EXHAUSTED to sleep in a new place. There are only a couple of friends's houses where they will chill and sleep and these are places they have been going to since they were pups. I think your Mom deserves to be treated to dinner! :)
