I am so excited! A few months ago I planted some Impatiens seeds in a flat inside my house. I put the flat under a halogen lamp in my office which I turn on when I get up in the morning and off when I go to bed at night.

Well, they are BLOOMING! They have the most beautiful salmon colored flowers on them, tons of them! I know this is a fairly easy plant to grow from seed but you have to understand that I can kill silk plants!

Are there any other amateur gardeners out there? Can you suggest any other flowering plants that are durable enough for me to try growing indoors?

Oh dear, I shouldnt admit to this but in high school I worked in a flower nursery and I could transplant about anything with a very high survival rate, but get me close to a house plant and it soon DIES on me. Have you thought about trying "waxed begonias" ? They have to be one of my favorite flowers or try some lavender.

I have to agree with Cindy...Begonias would be a good choice. I have fairly good luck with outside gardening, but a house plant can't survive in my home! My Mom has tons of beautiful house plants...Spider plants look really great hanging inside..try those.
