He got up on the table and swallowed 1 buffalo wing. He didnt chew it at all, just swallowed it. The bone was about an inch long. Will he be ok or should I be worried?

Thanks for your help,

Caymans dad.

I'm no expert either, but I agree with what Ken said. I'll also add that the dog I grew up with snarfed down a bone that fell off the table. I might have dropped it off of my plate, but can't remember. She was fine.

The bone was cooked. It was a eaten Honey BBQ wing from KFC that was laying on the table. He took the bone and swallowed it as we were trying to get it from him. So you guys think it will be fine though? Thanks

Well, if it had been raw that would probably be better, but if he swallowed it whole and it had no rough edges, he'll probably be OK. How large is Cayman? Great name, by the way!

I would really pay attention to his eating and bowel habits to make sure everything remains normal. If it will make you feel better, call and speak with your vet.

Thanks Cayman is about 70lbs now.

Probably good that he's a big boy. His intestines and such are bigger and the bone might pass more easily that way.

As I said, it might be reasonable to call your vet. He/she might be able to offer advice, if there's any to be offered. Otherwise, watch your boy for changes or for the passing of the bone!!

You would probably know right after he ate it. If he started coughing or gagging..if he's not doing that and acting fine then, he'll be okay. Accidents like that happen especially with counter surfing boxers.

A few months ago Oskar swallowed a chicken wing also (hot) and I freaked too! But after a call to our breeder and vet they both said as long as he didn't chew it he will be fine. Watch for any signs of discomfort though. I was also watching his potty times like crazy. He was totally fine and I worried for nothing as usual!

I agree, it's better that he didn't chew it up at all and just swallowed it whole...I'm sure he'll be fine, but just keep an eye on his bowel movements in the next few days...
Keno gave us a scare when he was about 3 mos old...our son was taking the red plastic ring off a piece of bologna and Keno snatched it right up and had it swallowed before my son could even blink...we were afraid it might get wrapped around his intestines so we called the vet who said to just watch him close for the next few days...within a week it had passed & was mostly broken down to nothing..thank goodness! Our vets tech also has a boxer and said that her boxer had eaten a whole tube sock when he was a puppy! She thought forsure it would cause problems, but he actually passed it a few days later  Imagine a puppy eating a long sock like and passing it..unbelievable !!!

amazin what they will swallow

phew least i'm not the only owner of a pup who took on a tube sock, man it took a few months to teach charlie socks were bad even after he swallowed one whole...and hours later his body said oh no i dont think so and back up it came. at that point no one knew he even ate a sock. i finally got rid of all things hair scrunchy too for some reason he thinks those are mini dog munchies. but i'm tellin ya if it were any other dog this would so freak me out but man they must have caverns for intestines and throats is all i can say cuz they will scoop it up and swallow it if they think you arent looking! I'm just thrilled he's two now and doesnt have that same...gee it must be edible theory on everything in the house!
