My 14 Month-Old Female Leaks Urine!!

I have had two boxers with the spay incontinence. The hormone worked much better than the PPL (which is an antihistimine, I think) for both, just had to give it once a week as opposed to two or three a day. My first dog took it 6 or 8 years, can't remember exactly, but she had no other health problems (was hit by a car) and the second dog took it for a shorter time as it was unavailable for a number of years. She was healthy until 8 1/2 (brain tumor). The incontinence was a major headache and I was glad the hormone worked so well.

I'm not sure if this is similar in nature, but the three year old female boxer we just adopted has started peeing on our bed while sleeping. Sometimes a small leak, sometimes a fair amount. Is this likely to be caused by medical problem or is it more likely to bebehavioral? She doesn't seem to have a problem while awake.

This definitely sounds like a similar problem. Bexley has also done the 'wetting the bed' thing a few times. From research I've done, incontinent dogs can lose control of their bladder while they are sleeping or relaxed. I feel so bad for her because she is constantly licking herself and you can tell she feels guilty when she drips on the bed or carpet.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear that the hormone worked well with your pups and that it didn't seem to cause any long term problems.

I just picked up the Estrogen from the vet today. He suggested having her start out by taking it twice a week, and then hopefully we can take it back to once a week or once every 10 days.

Loui my 1 year old male unspayed boxer have the same problem but my vet gave him some pills it works the last time he gave him antibeutics (Co-trimoxasol 80-400 ) 2 pills in the morning and two pills at nigth ! for 10 days the last time it stopped leaking in 4 days but now it is the ninth day of his medication and he has the leakage !! i dont know what to do !
