Hey Everyone!
Well, I'm graduating this May, or August, depending on how much I want to work myself! I'm not worried about it, cause our lease is up in September, so I may just split it up over spring and summer.

But we are going to have a new home built in North Port, Florida. I don't know, but it is a small place, getting developed now. Close to cities, 20 minutes off the gulf. My major is Health Care Management, and there are a few hospitals within 30 min. Prices are cheap, or at least seem to me. We are looking at a 2251 sq.ft. new house for $123,000 with a huge pool. 3 bed, 2 ba. 2 car garage. It will only be me and my boyfriend (getting married late this summer). We've been together for 4 years, seems like we're already married, it's like we don't have time to do it!!! Also, the 2 doggies. So a fenced yard. We are soo excited.

What were your experiences with your first house, and how young were you? We'll be 22. I figure why keep wasting my money with renting, fixing up someone else's house. We pay $700 for rent at this house (small), and the mortgage on that house would be around $900. I want to move NOW!!!!

Hi Cindy! First off congrats on finishing up school and buying a house. Owning a house is alot of responsibility but well worth it. I bought my first house at 22 and at 27 we are still here. We would really like to move and buy a house with alot of land because I would like a few more furbabies! I would also like to build a kennel but in the form of a house on the property..but we aren't doing that until we get married. We have been together 2 1/2 years and still haven't made the leap...but like you, it seems no different then if we were. I think you should go for it. I don't know much about Florida but if that is where you want to live, I say make the plunge! Good luck and keep us posted...

Yeah Cindy!!

I think that's a very good decision. We built our first house when I was 22 also. That sounds like an incedible deal! ...hey, maybe we'll just move to FLA too! The gulf is GORGEOUS!!!!! Keep us posted.

Cindy: That sounds like a GREAT deal! My husband and I bought our first house when I was 24, he was 26. We lived in an apartment for two years prior to that. Same thing, tired of paying rent. Our house is about the same size as what you described, but we had to pay a heckuvalot more for it! I think you're getting a deal in FLorida (if that's where you want to be) and we definitely don't have a pool. We have also purchased 8.5 acres on a pond for future building purposes, just outside of town where there's peace and quiet, but we definitely won't be getting the deal of a lifetime that you've found! Good luck, sounds wonderful, let us know how it goes. Jessica

Where exactly in Florida are you moving to? Will you be near me in Pensacola? I love the Gulf too. Where I live is about 15 minutes from the beach ...and during the summer we go quite a bit. If you're not going to be living too far from me we will HAVE to get our boxers together!

You also might want to consider Pensacola or Fort Walton Beach. It's about the same price range. I didn't buy my first house until 2 years ago. Our house is small (1300 square feet), but it was brand new, and we liked the idea of having something NEW for a change! I also liked the 10 year builder's warranty that came with the house. Well, anyway, I was the "advanced" age of 34 when we bought it. I would've bought one sooner, but I didn't know about all the programs out there for first time home buyers. All I paid to move into my house was a $500 binder, and a $275 appraisal fee. The builder paid the rest. I got a GREAT rate on my mortgage (6.6 percent), and my total monthly payment, including all the goodies they tack on for interest, taxes, etc. is only $540 a month on a $74,500 house. It's not my dream home, but I figure that's several years down the road yet! We're happy to have it. The yard is too small for Boomer to run around in like I'd prefer, so I walk him daily at least 2 miles. Wow...this post is getting long...BYE!!!

Thanks for the replies guys!

Yeah this stuff is sooo confusing. I wrote to a few mortgage lenders, none of which have responded. We may look into renting, or rent to own for the first year till we save up money and have our "real jobs" It's just soo hard to find anything with 2 large dogs!

We are actually looking at Ft. Myers now, which is southwest Florida, below Tampa.
There are tons of healthcare jobs there, with Health Care Management being my major, so I'm gonna try to move where I can get the best job. I want something close to home that I could come home at lunch and let the doggies out.

I guess I'll send my resume soon, but I won't be moving till Sept, and I'm sure the jobs will change. I don't want my resume to get "lost"

Hi! Yeah I actually started college at the University of Tampa, but came back home.
I have also looked into St. Petersburg, I'm interested in working at All Children's Hospital.

Ft. Myers is in Lee County, it is probably an hour south of Sarasota.

I would definitely love to get our boxers together when I move. I will be coming down for Spring Break in March, probably bring the dogs to play at the beach, if we can find a hotel that allows them!!
