Hi,

Our puppy, Chance is 11 weeks old. The breeder was moistening his food for 15 minutes before his feeding in warm water. Are there any suggestions as to whether or not we should be doing this or if it would be a bad thing if we stopped now? Chance is too impatient to wait for the food to moisten!

Thanks!

The only real reason for pre-moistening food for pups is to make it a bit more palatable (some take a while to accept dry biscuit as food). Or if the pup find eating a bit painful during teething. But if neither of those things applies to your guy, and he's happy to eat his food dry, then there's really no reason not to let him.

With pre-moistening, there really are no reasons for or against doing it. The sole exception there being foods that are preserved with citric acid. Those should not be pre-moistened, as doing so has been identified as a factor increasing the risk of bloat in large breed dogs.
