Any suggestions in keeping a newly spayed girl calm. They want her to stay calm for 7 days. I picked her up yesterday and she was pretty good. Today she is full of energy..She wants to go out all the time and I am not supposed to let her out off leash..What did everyone else do? thanks

Laila got spayed the day after Christmas....the first day I picked her up she was a little quiet and then the next day she was full tilt...I tried but it was hard to keep her quiet...I would let her out in the yard to pee and poop and she would just burn around the yard!!...I kept an eye on her sutures and she was absolutely fine...sutures are out and no more worries...good luck!! Please, please keep her calm and do NOT let her burn around the yard!!! We kept Maggie as calm as we could but her stitches burst late one night. We had to rush her to emergency for an operation - I have never been so scared or worried. If you search the forum you should be able to find my posting documenting the details.

Try new things to chew on - both toys and food. New experiences - musical instruments. Try taking her to Petsmart to look at the birds, fish, etc. Spend some time grooming her. Practice new commands. Anything to keep her mind occupied while not doing anything physical.

Good luck - it is extremely difficult to keep a boxer quiet!!

I totally agree!! It is torture for a week but not worth taking the chance that they have a problem.I did do a lot of short leash walks and practiced sits, stays, etc. It was a LONG week every time but well worth it. Good luck
