My 4 month old boxer started getting small bumps on her back. You can
see where her hair kind of sticks up where they are but you can barely
feel them. This started about a month ago and at the time I was feeding
her science diet lamb meal and rice I decided to switch her to Canidae ALS
because of it being a better food and that maybe she was allergic to the SD.
The bumps are still there. Could she maybe be allergic to rice? Should I try
Timberwolf Ocean Blue? I shampoo her every few weeks with Earthbath
Oatmeal & Aloe. Could this have something to do with it?

Here's my experience... Shae gets smalls bumps from bug bites. Not so much now as the weather has cooled in Mo. but before that, flies, gnats, whatever........would leave small bumps as you say, where the hair sticks up and we can feel them with our fingers. Each one goes away within one-two days. Our other pup, Kirby doesn't do this. One more thing, most always these bumps are up along Shae's back, where the flies or whatevers could land and she couldn't reach them so they had time to bite. Hope this helps!

do the bumps come and go or are they always there? Hives are a sign of sensitivity but bumps that are there 24/7 might need to be seen by the vet.

They do come and go. like you said it seems as if they last a couple of days.
I use Sentinel for flea control but from what I understand it only stops the
lifeline of the flea. I decided to purchase Timberwolf Ocean Blue from their
website athough this probably isnt a food allergy and Canidae is a good food.
Your comments were very helpful and I feel more at ease. Thank You!

They sound like the small hives that chief gets... they come and go.... Our vet is currently testing to see what the potential allergy is. Have you changed treats at all? Is the shampoo you use new??? Our Vet told us that the main cause of Urticaria (hives), should that be the case, is usually from food, drugs, shampoo, or bugs. They are still leaning toward Chief's issue being a bug bite (spider) of some sort. But they are still testing due to the fact that the hives are still there. He had us eliminate his current treats and shampoo to see if this made a difference. Plus he changed his meds. If nothing changes, it's going to be limited to the food. Is there anything new you can eliminate from the picture?
