Good Afternoon,

We bought one of these as Odie was getting a bit bored (ie getting in trouble) at home while we are gone during the day....

Just wanted to let whoever may be interested that they are on sale for $59.99 INCLUDING the Kong toys here:

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...allpartial&Ntk=All&pc=1&N=0&Ntt=kongtime&Np=1

There is also a coupon for $5 off - 2885/4078 - which brings the total to $64.98 shipped!!!! I had been looking at these for a while, but the $120+ cost was a bit much......

Hopes this helps someone!

What to use?

Funny I just saw this post, because I was getting ready to start one about Kongs. I saw they have a new Kong out called Kong Blue. It is supposed to be 25% stronger and stretch up to 9 times their length. I was going to get the furkids each one for Christmas. What do people put in their Kongs? I've heard people use peanut butter and soft ingredients like that. Does that make a mess? What do most of you use and any suggestions on buying one?

Kong stuffing

We've tried a whole slew of things in the Kong: from peanut butter to frozen chicken broth (we learned the hard way that is an OUTSIDE treat ONLY...). Although the peanut butter is a bit messy and hard to clean out if they don't eat it all, it is their favorite. So we'll fill it about halfway with that and then stuff some jerky treats in with it. To us, peanut butter and chicken jerky just don't sound that great but they love it!

I've thought about getting one of these but I'm concerned that Bella will just decide to chew it up instead of waiting for the Kong to come out! We vary what we put in the Kong but use combinations of peanut butter, bits of treats, kibble, yougart and the Kong filling in a can. Sometimes we put it together the night before and freeze it, especially when we put yougart in.

I've wanted to get one of these for a long time ... thanks for letting me know they're on sale!

As for what we put in ours, Moab loves the Nutro Healthy Desserts. Its a semi-soft food that comes in little cans in flavors like Pumpkin Pie, Apple Tart, Berry Cobbler, etc. There's only 4 flavors. We rotate between these and peanut butter.

Now that sounds good! :)

Also, since I have never seen or used one, is it better to put soft treats or can you use crunchy treats?

I have seen the kongtime dispensers but I don't think they would work for use since we have 3 dogs. Not unless I went for broke and bought 3 of them.

Kongs are awesome and can be stuffed with anything. I stuf mine like this:

1. Shove a piece of kibbe in the end to seal the hole
2. Put a little bit of dry kibble in the end to aid in cleaning later
3. clean out the fridge and pack anything in there you are comfortable giving your dog.
4. Pack it tight about halfway full then stick a biscuit in sideways so they have to maneuver it to get the stuff out.
5. Pack the rest of the kong as tight as possible and then stick another biscuit in so it is stuck in that edgejust inside the hole.
6. cover the hole with peanut butter or cream cheese and freeze.

I stuff as tight as possible and layer the stuff so there are different tastes and textures to work through. The Kong stuff'n Snaps (large ones) are the perfect size to really block off the hole so they have to work real hard. Of course if your dog is a kong novice, you wouldn't want to make it so challenging.

We have I believe 12 kongs and I stuff them on Sundays and put them in the freezer for the week. Since we have added the 3rd dog, things are a bit out of whack but I am going to look at those Kong Blue ones that were already mentioned, sounds interesting!
