My friends have fallen in love with boxers (the spend a great deal of time with me and my little fawn boy), and have found white boxers to be their favorite. I know of some breeders that give away their white boxers, and was curious if this goes for most breeders in general... Does anyone have any advice I could give to them on finding a white boxer puppy to bring home? Thanks so much in Advance! God Bless!

Our rescue in Houston has several white boxers, they should check with their local rescue, I'm sure they also have white ones as well.

There is a recent thread on boxer colors, there were several people on there talking about their whites and that they had paid the same price for them as any other color.
I have never seen a white for free, and I live in Mo.

I just wanted to say that of the three breeders I talked to before I got Isis they all charaged the same price for a puppy reguadless if it was brindle, fawn or white.
I would also suggest that your friends try to rescue a boxer. My Zeus was a rescue and he the best dog I have ever had.

Thanks!

Thanks so much! I will let them know what ya'll have informed me. I have talked to them about rescuing a dog, (even to the extent of looking at them and emailing them the ones I thought would work). However, it seems that they are still hesitant for some reason or another. Maybe they just want a puppy??? They have never come out and said. Any advice that I could give them about rescuing a dog that would push them over the edge? I have told them that many are potty trained, they need a loving home, etc.... Anyway, thanks so much again for your insight! Have a wonderful day!

There are many advantages to getting a rescue. Depending on the dog, most are all ready house and crate trained. The rescue will know about their personality, such as if they are good with other dogs, cats or kids. They are all ready spayed or neutered and up to date on shots and medical care. And most rescues are also quite grateful to have a warm, safe home. Some of our dogs are owner surrenders and have lived in a safe environment but have been abandoned, but some have been left outside 24/7, abused, or had to fend for themselves on the streets.

What I remember from talking with my breeder when we got our fawn girl was that if you belong to American Boxer Club thier code of ethics says something about not charging for Whites. It was explained that because breeders used to kill the whites they wanted to change that and that they should never be registered because they don't meet confirmation standard color. Also they should be fixed so no one breeds them. Our breeder made it sound like she gives them away or only charges the cost of the shots and with a spay neuter contract.

As for Rescue, I have a rescue male 3yrs old and he is better behaved than my fawn girl. If your friends are not in a hurry they can wait for a puppy in rescue. I know here in FL they get females in with litters etc. They usually are not on the websites because they have a list of people waiting for puppies. So your friends can contact several rescues and be put on a list for puppies that come in. They also get alot of dogs under 1yr. The best thing they could do would be apply to rescues and be honest about wanting a puppy and what color etc. The rescues REALLY do want to match the right dog with you and will go out of thier way to make sure you and the dog are a happy match.
