Hi all

This weekend we are taking Rafa to see one of the grown up dogs in the family, a rather large (overweight), 4 year old lab.

What's the best way to try and introduce Rafa to him - no doubt Rafa is going to want to play and the lab probably not!!!

When we took Max to meet his uncle Rocky ( a rottie), we just put Max on the floor and let them sniff each other. We had to keep a REALLY close eye on them though. Rocky was the best behaved dog I'd ever been around, but he was 11 years old and Max was a little too playful with him. He was boxing and jumping on Rocky. We were a little concerned that Rocky would accidentally hurt Max, but honestly I don't think having a big dog "correct" the puppy's behavior is necessarily a bad thing. Rocky yapped at Maxie a couple of times, but I think it taught my baby better manners :)

I would play it by ear I assume you will be carrying Raffa in and see how the big dogs react to them most have been exposed to puppies in their lifetime and know what to expect

Agree to watch and see how they do. Let them sniff and be sure both have a place to go if they want to get away-open fenced yard, really big room without a lot of furniture. If they want to play they will go to each other, if one does not want to it will back off and should have a place to go. I am sure it will go fine and, BTW, your baby is ABSOLUTELY beautiful!! What a face :) Good luck with your playdate and let us know how it goes
